Dilip Bhargava
Dilip founded SDB in 2000 as a steel trader. Over the years, under his leadership, the company has grown into one of the largest pipe stocking distributors in North America.
While running SDB, he has earned several awards including Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in America (6x), finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year (3x), Houston Chronicle’s Largest Privately Held Companies in Houston, and Business Excellence Award from the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
Dilip is regularly interviewed and referenced for popular industry and business publications like Fastmarkets and Houston Business Journal, respectively. Dilip entered in the steel pipe industry over 30 years ago when he acquired an idled US Steel Pipe mill in Baytown, TX. Through the 90’s he managed the company as president and CEO before founding SDB. He moved to the US from his small hometown of Hisar, Harayana, in India to obtain his masters degree in 1973.
He earned his B.E. in Civil Engineer from Thapar (India) and his M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University. Prior to entering the pipe world, Dilip had served in several roles as an engineering consultant and worked for the US Department of Commerce. Dilip is an avid golfer and tries to get a round in whenever he can. In addition, you’ll often find him spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
